Rosie is the foundation's Founder and Creative Director. She's led it since she was 13. She wanted The Blue Lily Foundation to be an official charity but lacked the ability to do it on her own for legal reasons: she had to be 18 to submit the paperwork to the IRS and Texas Secretary of State, and also 18 to be a board member. So she chose an advisory board to follow legal procedure, and these adults formed the 501c3 under her direction. She plans to assume the role of president of the board officially on her 18th birthday.
This organization started with one student who saw a problem at school and decided to do something about it. She’s the one driving the mission, making sure her peers have access to basic hygiene items and clothing so they can show up to school feeling confident and ready to learn.
Since she’s still a minor, she can’t legally run a nonprofit on her own. That’s where our three-person adult advisory board comes in. They handle the oversight, paperwork, and compliance pieces to make sure everything is done the right way and stays above board.
Together, it’s a simple partnership: the vision and leadership come from a young person who understands the need firsthand, while trusted adults provide structure and accountability behind the scenes. It keeps the work both student-led and responsibly supported and built to last.
